THE DOVE AND THE ANT
Once upon a time, there lived a dove. He was passing his days happily. One day while he was sitting on a tree beside a river, he saw an ant which was very thirsty. So, he went to the river to drink water. Suddenly the ant was swept away by a wave. He was about to die. The dove saw it while sitting on a tree. Then he plucked a leaf and dropped it on the river water. The ant got on the leaf and came to the land. He thanked the dove for saving his life. The ant in return promised to help the dove.
One day the dove was sitting on the same tree. There was a hunter. The hunter aimed at the dove. The ant saw it. When the hunter was about to shoot the dove, the ant bit him in the leg. The hunter missed his aim. In the meantime the dove managed to fly away. Thus the ant also saved the life of the dove. Both of them became good friends. They promised to help each other in their joys and sorrows. From the reading of this story, we learn that we should help others in their distress.

(ঘুঘু ও পিপড়া)
একসময়, একটি ঘুঘু থাকত। সে সুখেই তার দিন কেটে যাচ্ছিল। একদিন যখন সে নদীর ধারে একটি গাছে বসেছিল, তখন সে দেখতে পেল একটি পিঁপড়া যা খুব তৃষ্ণার্ত ছিল। তাই, তিনি জল খেতে নদীতে গেলেন। হঠাৎ পিঠে পিপীলিকা ভেসে গেল ঢেউয়ের সাথে। সে মারা যাচ্ছিল। ঘুঘু এটি একটি গাছের উপর বসে থাকতে দেখেছিল। তারপরে তিনি একটি পাতা টেনে নদীর জলে ফেলে দিলেন। পিপীলিকা পাতায় উঠে জমিতে এসেছিল। তিনি নিজের জীবন বাঁচানোর জন্য ঘুঘুকে ধন্যবাদ জানালেন। পিপড়া ভিতরে ফিরে কবুতর সাহায্য করার প্রতিশ্রুতি। একদিন কবুতরটি একই গাছের উপরে বসে ছিল। একজন শিকারি ছিল। শিকারি ঘুঘুটিকে লক্ষ্য করেছিল। পিঁপড়া তা দেখেছিল। শিকারি যখন কবুতরটি গুলি করতে চলেছিল তখন পিপড়া তাকে পায়ে কামড় দেয়। শিকারী তার লক্ষ্য মিস করল। এরই মধ্যে ঘুঘুটি উড়ে যেতে সক্ষম হল এভাবে পিপীলিকাও কবুতরের প্রাণ বাঁচায়। দুজনেই ভালো বন্ধু হয়ে গেল। তারা একে অপরকে তাদের সুখ ও দুঃখে সাহায্য করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিল।
